I never enjoyed golf as a kid when I started. The game seemed slow, frustrating, and anything but enjoyable. However, as I spent more time on the course, something changed. I began to see the beauty in the game—the challenge, the strategy, and the quiet moments of focus. Golf transformed from something I dreaded into something I genuinely loved.

As I grew to appreciate the sport, I realized that many kids might never get the chance to discover this side of golf. They might see it the way I once did, difficult and unapproachable. This realization sparked an idea: what if I could help kids find the fun in golf earlier so they wouldn’t miss out on the joy it has to offer?

Motivated by this newfound passion, I decided to create a non-profit dedicated to making golf accessible and enjoyable for young kids. I wanted to build a program where they could learn the game in a supportive, fun environment, guided by golfers from Diamond Bar High School, a Division I golf school, who could share their love and expertise.

With this vision, our non-profit came to life. We began hosting monthly events where kids could experience the thrill of golf in an engaging and encouraging way. Our program quickly became a space where young players could not only learn the fundamentals of golf but also discover the same love for the game that I eventually found.

Being a golfer since a young age, I had grown up playing golf alone. I never truly loved or enjoyed the game since golf had occupied my time but left me completely isolated when I did practice. It has always been a simple hobby to me since I was young, and for 7 years that was all that it had been. I had seen little to no progress which changed when I joined the High School Team. For once I wasn't just playing alone, I was playing with and for a team and for a cause larger than myself; that was when golf evolved to something I was passionate about. This sense of camaraderie led me to loving the game. Looking back at my younger self, I always hoped for a community of golfers that I could grow up with, and had that been the case, my passion for the game would have started much sooner. This was a catalyst for me to join Golf on Top: to inspire other young golfers and establish their community for them through our events.

I joined Golf on Top because I love the mission of teaching and guiding young students to participate in the game of golf. Growing up, I wished I had someone who could help guide me in the same way, providing knowledge to develop my skills and passion for the sport. Now, I have the opportunity to be that mentor for others, helping them learn and grow both on and off the course. Additionally, I really enjoy teaching others how to play golf, sharing my experience and love for the game while watching them improve and gain confidence.
